Albanian Minister of the Interior Sandër Lleshaj has tried to find excuses for the scandal of the manipulation of the electoral lists, saying the authorities are only specifying the residence addresses of the citizens.

However, the accusations made by the opposition and the media are still standing. On Tuesday, a registry office in Tirana “separated” a married couple, Tirana residents, “sending” the wife’s name to Korça and the husband to the administrative unit number four. Neither the wife nor the husband do not result registered in the administrative unit where they actually live.

Despite that, Lleshaj said it is an invention of the Democratic Party and its controlled media, which “invent imaginary operations from the government for the supposed obstruction of citizens to cast their votes”.
