Former President of Albania Bujar Nishani condemned the government’s project for the demolition of 300 houses and businesses in the Astir area in Tirana to make space for the new city ring.

Nishani calls government officials as “the new fascists” who call themselves as “anti-fascists” that “ignore and violate every principle of the Constitution of Albania by taking away houses and businesses from hundreds of families without compensation”.

He writes this is “the barbarism of a state of anarchists on hundreds of families in the area of the new ring in Tirana”.

“The Principles of Copenhagen have fallen totally in Albania. The new fascists have no need for constitutional legitimacy. With their moral, principles, and power, they give themselves the right to ignore the democracy and instead of governing to make citizens’ lives better and normal they are concerned to serve to illegitimacy and the oligarchs’ amorality”.
