Former Premier Sali Berisha has appealed his successor Edi Rama to resign and pave the way for a caretaker cabinet that can guarantee free and fair elections.

Speaking to the whole Democrat parliamentary group in the opposition tent today, Berisha called Rama as “Edi the Mask”, adding that another protest like that of February 18 would be a terrible end for him.

“I’d like to tell Edi the Mask that thousands of citizens flooded the streets in February 18, there were rivers of hate against you, and, had it not been kept under control, it would sweep you away, from the Mount of Sharri where you were hiding”, Berisha said.

“35 days later, the hope is alive more than ever everywhere in Albania. People see you as a political corpse and their find their future at the opposition, at Lulzim Basha. You problem is that such great are people’s disgust and impatience to kick you away that you should never wait for another February 18, because it would be your terrible  end. No one in the history of freedom has misused his power like you did in the recent four years. You have increased Albanians’ poverty fourfold”.
