Latest survey shows 78% of the Albanian citizens do not believe Edi Rama’s anti-corruption initiatives

A survey on the level of corruption in six countries of the Western Balkans, carried out by the Southeastern Europe Center for Integrity and Development found out that 78% of the Albanian citizens do not believe that the measures taken by the Albanian government will reduce the corruption significantly.

22% believe the government’s initiatives will never fight the corruption in the country definitively. 45% of the citizens are under pressure to bribe officials in the state institutions, with 34% accepting they have already given bribes.

The level of corruption in Albania remains the highest in the region and continuous efforts are needed to fight it and enable opening accession negotiation with EU.
