Albanian President Ilir Meta has appealed to Premier Edi Rama to stop the blackmail and pressure on the other institutions obstructing the implementation of the Presidential Decree on the local elections of October 13. Meta said Albania is in the middle of massive absurd political theater and called on both the majority and the oppositions to end it. The President referred to three political leaders in the country, Edi Rama, Lulzim Basha and Monika Kryemadhi as “artists”.

“What concerns us more is this big, politic, absurd theater that threatens every possibility for Albania to open the negotiations on October 17-18”, Meta said today. “That’s why, I repeat my appeal to everyone, especially to the three artists, to end this absurdity and take measures for the local elections of October 13, because the Albanian citizens need tranquility, normality and a legitimate local government”.

“I do not think the local elections will solve everything, but it is a legal and constitutional obligation. First of all, it is an obligation for the Prime Minister to renounce blackmail and pressure on all the other institutions, obstructing like this the implementation of the Decree”.
