The Democratic Party of Albania (PD) has warned the General Prosecution Office that it will be held accountable if it continues to obey Albanian Premier Edi Rama’s orders and keeps the opposition detainees in violation of the law, referring to but not only the detention of former MP Bardh Spahia.

“Bardh Spahia and tens of citizens in the whole country are political detainees of Edi Rama’s criminal autocratic regime that persecutes the political opponents and violates the citizens”, PD said in a statement today.

“The representative of the Democratic Party for the county of Shkodër, Bardh Spahia, is being detained since 48 hours without any evidence that implicates him in breaking the law. We’d like to warn the Prosecution Office to comply with the law and order the immediate release of the opposition representative. This is the case for the opposition not to subordinate to Edi Rama’s political order. Every judge or prosecutor that, in violation of the law, becomes a blind tool of Edi Rama’s outgoing regime will be held personally responsible for infringement of the law”.
