Albanian Premier Edi Rama continued the electoral campaign in the county of Skrapar today, which is known as a stronghold of the Socialist Movement for Integration, LSI. Rama introduced the Socialist candidate Adriatik Mema, which will race alone in the mayoral election.
Rama hoped to challenge President Ilir Meta whose origin is from Skrapar but failed in his efforts to gather many listeners in his meeting. The participants were mostly employees of the administration from Tirana and the nearby Berat, while 20-30 others were Rama’s bodyguards.
Rama has added his security detail after the opposition rally of February 16 and ever since has been seen wearing a bullet proof vest in addition to many bodyguards. Today they had a double function, not as much to protect the Prime Minister as to fill the meeting boycotted by the local residents.
