The Court of Vlora has decided remand in custody for Fredi Beleri, the opposition candidate for mayor of Himara in south Albania. His case now has been transferred to SPAK, the Albanian Special Structure against Corruption. Beleri, the candidate of the candidate of the coalition Together We Win of Sali Berisha’s Democratic Party and Ilir Meta’s Freedom Party, was arrested on Thursday evening only minutes after Premier Edi Rama threatened him live on television. Beleri was charged of active corruption in the election in collaboration. The administrative elections for mayors and municipal councils in Albania will take place tomorrow, on May 14.
