The ruling Socialist Party (PS) of Prime Minister Edi Rama has proposed sentences up to 15 years of imprisonment for the violators of the curfew imposed by the government as a precaution to slow down the coronavirus spread in Albania. A2 television has obtained the draft that has been presented to the parliament not as an initiative of the government but of the MPs. The draft for the modification of the Penal Code provisions the addition of two articles, with one of them being the violation of the rules of quarantine rules for the prevention of spread of infective diseases.

“The violation of the quarantine orders or of the quarantine rules from a person bearing or not the infective disease constitutes a criminal offence and is punishable by a fine or imprisonment for a term up to ten 15 years. If the criminal offence has caused serious consequences for the health or lives of other persons, it is punishable by imprisonment for term of three to ten years. If the criminal offence has caused or will cause the death of a person, it is punishable by imprisonment for a term from five to 15 years”, says the proposed article.
