Albanian Premier Edi Rama repeated his favorite excuse for his government’s failure to open edhe membership negotiations with EU in front of domestic and international media in a joint conference with the President of the European Parliament David Sassoli. Rama said “it didn’t depend from us” and “sometimes a scapegoat is needed for sacrifice”. However, by the other hand, the Prime Minister admitted Albania has a number of problems to solve related to justice, rule of law, organized crime and corruption.

“Yes, Albania has problems to solve, with justice, rule of law, structured crime, and corruption but we will not become members today. The negotiations is transferring knowledge from Europe to us, the road we’ll go on, an accurate itinerary, therapeutic guidelines. It’s true there are some friends that do not want Europe as it is today, that want to re-found it and something good will come out of this”, Rama said.
