The chairman of the parliamentary commission for the investigation of Albanian President Ilir Meta, Ulsi Manja, should have been in prison and not investigation the president. This is the declaration of the Democratic Party’s secretary for legal affairs Çlirim Gjata in a press conference today.

Gjata said the investigation over the President’s Decree to postpone the local elections of June 30 is only an attempt of Premier Edi Rama to distract attention from the innumerous scandals.

“Ulsi Manja is one of the intercepted persons in the Dossier 184, which was published by Bild”, Gjata said. “This person will decide on the dismissal of the President of the Republic. Why is no one investigating Ulsi Manja over what became public from the interceptions? The whole world listened to Ulsi Manja how he broke the law on the account of the organized crime and votes’ buy-out. He cannot be an investigator today, he must be investigated. The President committed no offence, he exercised his Constitutional competence”.
