The opposition will boycott the local elections in Kavaja in 7 May 2017 unless Premier Edi Rama resigns. PD deputy chairman Edi Paloka told media reporters that the opposition decision to boycott the legislative elections of 18 June 2017 is valid also for the new elections for Kavaja’s Mayor.
"There are no elections with Edi Rama as Prime Minister. The opposition will participate neither in the elections for the Municipality of Kavaja, nor in any other elections”, Paloka said.
Paloka’s statement comes only hours after President Bujar Nishani decreed the date for the new elections, where the new Mayor will be elected, after the Constitutional Court ruled Elvis Rroshi’s mandate removal from the Central Electoral Commission had not violated the Constitution.
