All Albanians will be keeping their eyes on Lisbon tonight, at the final night of the Eurovision Song Contest.

For the first time ever, three Albanian singers will be in the final night and the odds to win the trophy seem good.

Deutsche Welle reports the fact Albanians have three singers in the final is a telling of what really happened to the Albanian society after the fall of the communism, when thousands of citizens rushed abroad. DW adds the presence of three Albanians has been a cause for debates after Eugent Bushpepa, representing Albania, and Eleni Foureira, representing Cyprus, known as the Greek Beyoncè, made the eagle gesture with their hands.

“You have become famous with Greek money, why are you making the eagle”, one commenter asked her.

“I’ve reached everything through my work and determination”, the Albanian woman from Fier responded.

The daughter of a haberdasher mother and a construction worker father has reached huge success in Greece but the fear she could be subject to racism made her keep her identity hidden.

Ermal Meta also has worked hard to reach success. He immigrated to Italy with his mother and his siblings when he was 13.

His dream was to sing in Sanremo Italian song festival and now not only has he fulfilled his dream to sing there, but also won the contest.

Eugent Bushpepa is a rocker from the small town of Rrëshen in north Albania who stunned the listeners with his voice. They say he sounds like the Guns N’ Roses lead singer Axl Rose.

The yearning for his girlfriend, with whom he is in Lisbon now, pushed him write a very good rock ballade.

Tonight is really the night for millions of Albanians.
