Opposition leader Lulzim Basha said the elections of June 25 were a confrontation of the Democratic Party, its program and the values it represents with crime, drugs, state machine and a massive vote buy-out. Basha repeated the Democratic Party (PD) is the only one that can save the country.

Basha froze his functions as PD chairman after the defeat in the elections but is running for another mandate in the lead of the first opposition party in Albania. He said his projects aims strengthening the citizens and common member of PD, entrusting them important decisions.

“I come for the second time before you, in a statutory race for the chairman of the Democratic Party. In the tent of liberty we spoke about the New Republic as a new reality, a new rapport between the state and the citizen, a new electoral system with deputies coming directly from the people and without party filters. This rapport must start from our family. As I said when I delivered the deputy lists, it had to be the last time that the PD chairman would deliver such a list. Now, for all the important decisions, we must apply the most democratic principle to pass in a one-member-one-vote system for the selections of anyone that will hold the weight of representing the Democrats and the Democratic Party”, Basha said in Korçë.

“Only PD has the moral and the values to save the country”, the chairman said, adding he is ready to go to the end of his battle.
