The Central Electoral Commission (KQZ) has made an appeal to the media not to transmit the harsh declaration made by the President-elect Ilir Meta in Shëngjin of Lezhë. The Socialist Party also has expressed its remorse for “Meta’s illegitimate behavior”.

Former Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta went to Lezha after an incident with a member of the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) and declared he was there along with his escort in order “to protect the votes from the Renaissance gangs” and that everybody must rise and knock down the bands.

"Tell to the people of Lezha that Ilir Meta is here along with escort and friends to protect the vote and dignity of the Lezhians (inhabitants of Lezhë). Let everybody rise to knock down the gangs of Renaissance, the gangs of drugs, the gangs that want to steal the vote, the dignity and the future of the Lezhians and Lezha’s children”, Meta said.

A LSI member, Florian Dushku, was wounded outside a polling place today, by a group which was a known criminal gang of the Renaissance in this town, according to LSI deputy chairman Luan Rama. He added the gang is backed by police and is being used to violate the elections.
