The Socialist parliamentary group has gathered today to discuss about the election of the new President of the Republic. Two rounds have passed so far without any actual name proposed from the majority, which is open to negotiate with the opposition, opting not to decide alone.

Before the meeting, chairman of the Socialist parliamentary group Gramoz Ruçi said they are waiting for “the negotiations with the European officials”.

Two MEP will visit Tirana tomorrow in efforts to incite the dialogue between parties with an agenda of 12 items. Their visit to Albania will last only six hours.

While the majority is trying to find a consensual name with the opposition, the later has suggested through Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha for the President to be elected directly by the people and that remains the only offer so far for this question.
