Former Albanian Premier and historic leader of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha welcomed the position of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in favor of Albania’s EU integration and his objection to the Open Balkans project, an initiative of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić with the support of Albanian Premier Edi Rama.

“An attitude in the interests of Albanians, peace, stability and region’s integration”, Berisha wrote on his Facebook page.

“Dear friends, in a joint press conference with Edi Rama yesterday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed:

1- His country’s support for the opening of the negotiations with Albania for its integration into EU.

2- His support to the Berlin Process and the common regional market within the framework of this Process.

3- The categorical refusal of the Open Balkans, the trilateral Belgrade-Tirana-Skopje alliance of Aleksandar Vučić as a project of the Serbian hegemony in the region.

Dear friends, I invite you to welcome this attitude in the best interest of Albanians, peace, stability and integrity in the region as the most deserved response to the adventurous projects of a Greater Serbia of Serbian ultranationalist President Vučić and his vassals in Tirana and Skopje, Rama and Zaev”.
