Former Albanian Premier Sali Berisha said his successor as the head of the Democratic Party (PD) Lulzim Basha will be the new Prime Minister of the country in 2021. Berisha made his prediction during his live interview Çim Peka Live show on Syri TV.

Berisha, who led the country as the first post-communist President in the period 1992-1997 and later as Prime Minister in 2005-2013, advised the opposition to engage the Albanian elites from Europe and the United States.

“There is no doubt (Basha) will be (Prime Minister) and I hope Rama does not go to the elections at all, because he has no chances. Lulzim Basha has his people, but the opposition must immediately contact the Albanian elites in Europe and United States. Wonderful elites! I personally would consider it (their engagement) as a must. Involving a group of youths would be vital to Albania, because it has gone eight years backwards”, Berisha said.

Asked whether he will put his candidacy for the Albanian parliament next year, Berisha said he has not a concrete project, but added he does not need a parliamentary mandate to be involved in politics.
