Albanian President Ilir Meta has responded publically to Premier Edi Rama’s accusations that he is undermining the opening of membership negotiations with EU, alluding for “shameful crisis provoked by the therapy of the judiciary reform”.
Meta rejected the accusations by quoting verbatim what he had written in his letter to the EU Commissioner, where he had written, among others, that he remained “full of confidence that the member countries will approve your recommendation to open the negotiations this month”.
Earlier, Rama had posted in his Twitter account that it was “the first time ever in the history of the European Union that a President sends letters to Brussels to undermine the bridge between his country and Europe. For the first time ever, a candidate country has Brussels pro its candidature, and its President against the country and against Brussels”.
