The fate of the municipal and mayoral elections of June 30 in Albania is still unsure as the political crisis deepens every day.
The opposition has declared it will not participate in the elections unless Premier Edi Rama steps down from his post.
The Socialist majority by the other hand has let know the election will go ahead despite the boycott of the opposition.
Asked whether he will vote in June 30, Albanian President Ilir Meta responded clearly that “Albanians have always voted”.
“The problem is that Albanians have fought to elect and it is necessary for both sides to make all the necessary efforts for Albanians to have not only the possibility to vote but also the possibility to elect, because democracy is first of all elections and free and fair elections”, President Meta said.
