Students in Tirana have been protesting for the second day today and it is expected the students from the whole country will join them. They have boycotted lectures and have blocked the road outside the Ministry of Education following the government’s decision on the credits payment for every exam, with a payment of 6709 Lek per credit in the bachelor level. Every subject has 5-10 credits, while for the Master’s student the tariff will be 1700 Lek per credit.

Like never before, the students have been asked to pay beforehand the whole annual tariff with December 15 as the deadline.

All these changes will affect strongly the students’ pockets and they have been made without any warning or consultation.

“These are penalties imposed on us from the government, as if those from the teachers to pass the exams were not enough”, one of the protesters told Syri.net.

They refuse to negotiate with the Ministry of Education saying the only way is for the government to renounce the new tariffs.
