Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha and representatives of the opposition coalition have complained through an official letter addressed to the European Commission about an EU official in Tirana. The decision for the complaint was taken after a meeting Basha had in his office with his allies Fatmir Mediu, Nard Ndoka, Agron Duka and Vangjel Dule, who raised their concern in connection with the suggestions made to them from the EU official, during a meeting in Tirana.

According to the opposition leaders, chief of EU Division for the Western Balkans Eduard Auer suggested them to stop the boycott of parliament and take part in the elections, benefiting from the absence of the Democratic Party to take as many mandates as possible. The opposition coalition expressed its concern also to chief of EU foreign policy Federica Mogherini. Republican Party chairman Fatmir Mediu told yesterday in the tent of protest fragments from the talk with Auer. “I heard an EU representative say it’s OK the Democratic Party will not enter the elections, because the other parties may win more places in the Parliament”, Mediu said.

Former Premier Sali Berisha called on the European Commission to release Auer from his duty, because of the shameful suggestion he made in Tirana, considered as a diversion with the opposition parties.
