Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha protested again against Taulant Balla’s appointment as the new Minister of the Interior after Bledi Çuçi’s dismissal last week. Berisha said in the parliament today that Balla’s appointment de fact is the appointment of crime at the helm of the ministry.

“Taulant Balla – it is documented – turns out to be closely linked to the criminal groups of Elbasan, Librazhd, Cërrik, Lushnja, and with the Rraja clan. Probably he is linked to other groups as well, but the ones I mentioned are documented”, Berisha addressed to the MPs.

“You must know, Taulant Balla is under investigation. He has been summoned three times by the Special Prosecution to testify about his connections, his influence for the public contract with his company that is registered under his wife’s name, and for other problems. Serious source said Europol has sent information on Taulant Balla to the Special Prosecution. I understand Edi Rama appointed him to give him double immunity”.
