Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha appealed to the Albanian media to ignore any candidate for the May 14 local elections that refuse the public debates with the candidates of the opposition. Socialist Party candidates so far have rejected invitations to face their adversaries in the media.
“A face-off with the opponents is a major obligation to the citizens but it has disappeared from our TV screens”, said Berisha. “Edi Rama is the person that killed the debate. He doesn’t dare to face Sali Berisha, because he knows what the final result will be. He doesn’t dare to face me in a TV studio because I would count all his criminal offenses, the terrible penalties imposed by the international arbitration that may reach up to €1.6 billion”.
“I appeal to the media not to admit to their studios every candidate that is not ready for a face-off. I invited the Democratic Party candidates to be ready for debates with their opponents”.
