The Albanian government approved on Thursday the draft of the Law on Arbitration within the Republic of Albania and abroad. The bill deals with the cases when a country may not accept the decisions of an international arbitration court.

This decision came after Albania's loss of €110 million in the World Bank Arbitration trial against Italian businessman Francesco Becchetti, whose television Agon Channel was unlawfully confiscated by Edi Rama’s government.

Rama declared after the defeat in the Arbitration Court that Albania would consider withdrawing from this court. A possible withdrawal of Albania from the international arbitration would also bring a withdrawal of foreign businesses from the country, since there would be no third party that would play the role of arbitrator.
