Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha continued his accusations against the Socialist Party government in an electoral meeting in Durrës today. Berisha spoke about the scandal of purchasing half a billion Euros of energy in the last year.

“No other country in the Balkans and Europe has Albania’s richness. It is the richest country, it is a land of fabulous wealth, but they steal it, they steal it, they steal it”, said Berisha. “There is no end to evil, we must stop evil!”

“The Supreme State Audit found that in 2022, the government and the local administration stole 122 billion (Albanian) Lek. How do they steal it? They steal it through building field roads with a price of €24 million per kilometer, when the real cost is 2 million. They say they planted 10, 30, 40 thousand of trees and claim to have planted 1 million, which means there would be a forest the size of Durrës in Tirana. Of course, would be nothing left for salaries and pensions”.

“These days it turned out they bought €500 million worth of energy. I tell you, and every Albanian should know, that in the year they bought €500 million Albania produced 2 billion kilowatts more than it consumes”, said the opposition leader.

“Miss Greed (vice premier Belinda Balluku) and (Premier) Rama empty the reservoirs in the summer. They sell it to realtors for 30 Euros, which resell it in the stock exchange for 250 Euros and share the money with them. This is a terrible mechanism of theft against citizens”.
