Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha said today in the parliament that the opposition will insist on the establishment of investigative commissions for the Premier Edi Rama’s corruptive affair with former FBI agent Charles McGonigal, as well as for Rama’s personal charter flights.

“The blocking of the investigation commission for the Rama-McGonigal affair continues again”, Berisha addressed to the MPs.

“This is a scandalous affair and new facts and evidence are constantly emerging. Edi Rama, along with Oleg Deripaska, is the main factor in the corruption of the FBI's counterintelligence chief, Charles McGonigal. Edi Rama has committed a series of punishable acts, according to both US and Albanian law. The McGonigal affair is the Watergate of this century. Edi Rama contracted the chief spy of the United States as a paid assassin of the Albanian opposition”.

“There is a lot of evidence that Rama became part of McGonigal's extortion team. There is no other country in the world where justice does not say a word, despite the public denunciations of two well-known businessmen”.

“Justice is in the vortex of the McGonigal affair, because it cannot be explained how these extortionists, these looters, circulate freely with airplanes and helicopters, at a time when their place is where all the extortionists belong. They had created this system with Edi Rama’s approval”.

“We won’t give up in our constitutional function of controlling the executive and institutions in accordance with the laws. Edi Rama has violated all the laws of the country. He is implicated in extortions that go up to €50 million, not only in Albania, but also in Kosovo”.

Berisha added the opposition will insist on lifting the statute of limitations, as it calls it an amnesty for corrupt officials.

“The other extremely important law that awaits is the law of limitation. The statute of limitations is an amnesty for thieves and this cannot exist for high officials. Let other citizens enjoy this right, but high officials should not enjoy it in any way, because, as you can see, removing immunity has zero effect when the other has total control over justice”.
