Kosovo’s largest daily newspaper Koha Ditore’s headline today was dedicated to Albanian Premier Edi Rama’s speech in the European Council on Wednesday. The newspaper writes Rama’s speech harmed Kosovo’s perspective for membership in the European Council. Different sources told Koha Ditore that Rama’s accusations and efforts to change the Resolution have caused concerns among several diplomats. They spoke to the Kosovo delegation about the negative effect Rama’s speech might have on the request for membership.

Albanian Premier Edi Rama gave an arrogant speech, full of insults and accusations addressed not only to the audience. Critics Rama spoke like he was in the Albanian Parliament, where insults anyone and plays both the prosecutor and judge.

The MP of the ruling Lëvizja Vetëvendosje, Haki Abazi, said Rama’s speech is harming Kosovo’s integration.

“We have remained silent for a long time, not wanting to harm the relations between Albania and Kosovo, but Rama’s latest statements can no longer pass in silence, because, as you saw, despite appeals pro Kosovo, they have harmed seriously Kosovo’s integration advances. Kosovo’s institutions and representative are the ones that speak for Kosovo! The Albania-Kosovo relations should not be affected by the political agendas”, Abazi said.

In Albania, the leader of the opposition and former Premier and President Sali Berisha raised the same concerns, saying “Edi Rama backstabbed Kosovo in the most inconvenient moment. Just when Kosovo needed positive lobbying for accession in the European Council, he launched a river of unheard insults and accusations. I appeal to the European Council not to be affected by the rhetoric of someone that is in a mission against his own nation”, said Berisha.
