Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha slammed Albanian Premier Edi Rama’s address in the Council of Europe in Strasbourg on Wednesday, saying he backstabbed Kosovo.

“I am here today to condemn with all my strength Edi Rama’s anti-Albanian speech in Strasbourg, the backstabbing of Kosovo from this evil enemy of the Albanian nation”, the former Albanian President told media reporters in his weekly press conference.

“Edi Rama in Strasbourg, with his speech that lasted twice the allowed time, with a speech that today could have been given only by Belarus’ Lukashenko, with this grotesque attitude – in addition to his insults, swearing, and cursing – forced the Presidential Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the biggest group of the Assembly to boycott officially dinner, despite his being there in the capacity of the Prime Minister of a member nation of the Council of Europe and NATO”, said Berisha.

“Such an act has never happened in the 73-year history of the institution, but it happened for the first time with the Prime Minister of the first and only narco-state in Europe”.

“Albania and the other members have never witnessed such a shame in the 73 years of this institution. Edi Rama proclaimed in Strasbourg his great act of national treason, introducing there the anti-national thesis of a Kosovar nation. Enver Hoxha left Kosovo under Serbian and Yugoslav rule, but he never spoke about a Kosovar nation”.

“Belgrade has always promoted strongly the thesis of a Kosovar nation and an Albanian nation. With this thesis, Edi Rama not only approved the division of the Albanian nation into two, but also indirectly the annihilation of a nation. This is the worst backstabbing of the Albanian nation. He plunged the knife into Kosovo’s back after failing shamefully with the thesis of the civil war in Kosovo. In Strasbourg he assessed it as a humanitarian conflict when it was genocide based on Serbian racism against Albanians. I call on the Council of Europe to vote Kosovo as its newest member and not to be influenced by Rama’s speech. Rama backstabbed Kosovo because he defended Belgrade with his rhetoric”.

“I also appeal to Kosovo authorities to stop Edi Rama’s political campaign against The Hague’s Tribunal as an instrument to hide his subordination to Belgrade”.
