Former Albanian President Bamir Topi commented the political crisis in the Democratic Party, saying the current chairman Lulzim Basha will lose his battle against his former mentor Sali Berisha.

Topi, a deputy chairman of the Democratic Party, said Basha is Berisha’s product and the former leader’s tour in the country proves Basha has already lost his battle.

“Berisha had and it seems still has good rapports and a contract with the Democrats and this is being proved, whereas Basha seems to have had a contract with Berisha, not with the Democrats. Basha is currently keeping the seal and a court ruling, but the party is not a court ruling”, Topi said.

Topi also expressed his belief the Democrat National Assembly that will assemble on December 11 will not expel Basha but will restructure the statutory regulations.
