The opposition representatives in the Political Council for the electoral reform have requested an urgent meeting with the Socialist majority representative only one day before the parliament session that will pass the changes to the Constitution as anticipated by Premier Edi Rama.

Democrat Party’s Oerd Bylykbashi and Socialist Movement for Integration’s (LSI) Petrit Vasili addressed to Socialist Party’s Damian Gjiknuri with the request of reaching an agreement before it is too late.

“… we repeat the United Opposition’s will to continue working together to find an acceptable solution for all parties, with the intention of finding the consensus for each change. This was the goal when we all agreed for the establishment of the Political Councile”, the opposition members wrote to Gjiknuri, repeating their readiness for dialogue, all-inclusive process, and a consensual outcome.

The opposition representatives also wrote that “any unilateral act would harm seriously the legitimacy of the elections and the governments that derive from them”.
