Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha promised to remove the crossbar between Albania and Kosovo, allowing people from both sides of the border to move freely, once his party wins the election and he is elected Prime Minister. Basha is visiting Kosovo and was asked in a press conference what he would do differently once he becomes Prime Minister.

“Indubitably, the first thing that will happen is removing the crossbar in Rruga e Kombit (the highway that connects Durrës harbor in Albania with Kosovo – Syri.net). I had the honor and privilege to have been a promoter of the Rruga e Kombit. This is Democratic Party’s heritage, of our government and of course mine too with the duties I had in Sali Berisha’s government”, said Basha, who was Minister of Public Works, Transport and Telecommunications during the construction of the highway.

Basha promised also to remove the road toll for the Rruga e Kombit, imposed by Edi Rama’s government, adding that Kosovo will have access to the Albanian harbors the same as they were its own harbors.

“We have a detailed plan of cooperation with Kosovo, prioritizing the infrastructure, including the harbors infrastructure, which will be at Kosovo’s sovereign disposal, which means that Kosovo will have that part of the harbor as a part of its territory, in every aspect, be it fiscal, customs, and anything else”, Basha promised, also mentioning the cooperation in the energy sector as having an “extraordinary potential”.
