Vice chairman of the Democratic Party Edmond Spaho said Albanian Premier Edi Rama is trying to take the Chamber of Commerce and the Union of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry under his control.

According to Spaho, after Rama’s pressure using the vetting process, the Administrative Court, in an absurd and anti-constitutional way, annulled the victory of Elisabeta Katiaj in the elections for the institution, ruling in favor of the government-backed candidate.

“Rama’s greed for power considers no independent institution, be it directly connected or not to the state. His blind instruments act also on institutions like the Chamber of Commerce and the Union of the Albanian Chambers of Commerce and Industry”, Spaho said, adding that the commission that certified Ms Katiaj’s victory backed off facing the brutal pressure from Rama and persons close to him.
