Albanian President Ilir Meta said one cannot talk about success of the Judiciary Reform in Albania when the country does not have a Constitutional Court.
“I have avoided speaking about this question publically despite talking about that with the international partners since a long time no”, Meta said today.
“It’s been three years since the consensual approval of the Judiciary Reform and I’m telling you, had it really been a success, Albania wouldn’t be even for a minute without a Constitutional Court”.
“I was the Parliament Speaker when the Reform was passed and I said ‘wait, the vetting should be done but we must be careful, because the functioning of Constitutional Court could be threatened’. A reform is not made with rhetoric and pressures, it’s made with standards. If a reform is made based on names, then it will not be a stable reform but another way for the capture of the institutions”.
