Are we going towards a second lockdown? Premier Rama announced yesterday new restrictive measures in case of a growth of fatalities which reached 304 or 10 victims per day in the last month.

832 new cases out of 2100 tests were reported in the first day of December which means one in three persons tested results positive.

The hospitals COVID-1 and COVID-2 have no more vacant places whereas Covid-3 is getting full quickly.

The opposition leader Lulzim Basha blames the bad management of the situation from Edi Rama’s government, which did not pay attention to the warnings for a second way, putting the economy on its knees and ruining healthcare system.

Experts have sounded the alarm bells that all the signs show that the pandemic is out of control and beds in the hospitals are being exhausted quickly.

The warning

Edi Rama, after returning from a 3-day visit in the United Arab Emirates, said during a live conversation on Instagram that new restrictive measures nationwide are not to be excluded.

It seems contradictory to his Forbes interview, where he bragged Albania is one of least affected countries and even the questions of the interviewer were biased in this direction.

Rama said it is not him but the commission of experts that decides for the restrictive measures but did not forget to pass the blame ball to the citizens.

“I do not decide for the restrictive measures, the experts commission does. If we see the fatalities, even though any lost life is too much, we are balanced. No one knows everything, we are learning step by step. For the moment there are no restrictive measures, but they are not excluded”, Rama said.

Basha

For the opposition chief Lulzim Basha, there is only one person to blame for the situation in the country: Premier Edi Rama.

In a message on his Facebook page, after a meeting with a couple of senior citizens, Basha wrote that Albanians are alone in the fights against the pandemic because Rama is working only for himself.

“Albania is today the country with the lowest economic assistance to its citizens. Pensions are not growing, healthcare is in collapse, the cost of life is increasing, food and medicaments are getting more expensive. The Albanian citizens need a government that works for them instead of a government that takes care of its personal interest. (They need) a government that tries every day for the national interest and leads the way to EU; a government that brings hope to the people”, Basha wrote.
