Former Premier Sali Berisha suggested the International Monetary Fund not to leave Albania. Speaking for ABC News, Berisha said IMF is indispensable in the country, upon which the huge debt hangs like the sword of Damocles.
According to the former PM “the opposition must take strong measures to make IMF stay”.
“It’s up to the parliament, which has signed the agreement, to speak whether IMF should or shouldn’t stay”, Berisha said, adding that “government debt will go to 85%, which is a very heavy rock tied to Albanian economy’s neck”.
