Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha said in his weekly press conference today that premier edi rama and Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj have hidden the real owners of the waste incinerators.

“This week’s sequestration of the company Integrated Energy and its assets by SPAK (the Special Prosecution against Corruption) was a major debate topic. The Democratic Party and I personally have supported and will support any measure, decision, and act pursuant to the neutral implementation of the law. We support the confiscation of the assets of the companies that have the official ownership of Tirana’s incinerator”, said Berisha.

“However, the Democratic Party repeats that just as the incinerators are the theft of the century; their investigation is the failure of the century. The delays in investigation have cost over €40 million to the citizens, stolen by the thieves of the century. For the Democratic Party, the delay in investigation consists of a criminal offense in itself”.

“Only a few months ago, the Head of SPAK said they could not sequester the incinerator because they did not know who the owners were and they would take the case to arbitration. With that statement he confirmed that the executive was hiding the owners of the companies to continue undisturbed stealing millions of Euros. They committed such a criminal offense not to protect the enrichment of Zoto and Mërtiri, but to protect their own enrichment, because Rama and Veliaj are the real owners”.
