Former Mayor of Durrës Vangjush Dako turned himself in to Tirana’s Police Department today after an arrest warrant against him was issued by SPAK, the Albanian Special Structure against Corruption.
Sources told Syri Dako will be detained in a Tirana police precinct until a judge decides on his security measure.
Dako was accompanied by his attorney. His charges include abuse of office related to the construction of a residential building without permit.
In March 2023, the former Mayor of Durrës was questioned by SPAK in relation to the investigative file opened for a construction permit granted 11 years ago for a building that was damaged by the November 2019 earthquake.
