Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha has proposed compulsory participation of the citizens in the elections as a measure against the election rigging.

“The compulsory voting would make buying votes invalid, because there are two kinds of buy-out”, explained Berisha. “One of them is buying out the right of vote, the other is ‘take your money and vote for me’. The second takes place if the voting becomes compulsory, like it is in Greece or Australia. One of my buddies in Australia has told me it has been done to end the votes buy-out, but Edi Rama does not accept it. He accepts only standards that allow him to rig the elections”.

Berisha also spoke about the Democratic Party coalition with the Freedom Party.

“The Freedom Party has been totally loyal. As a party, it had no interest to make coalition with us, but they did it so the opposition could have greater power, otherwise our candidates would have been forced to register as independent, because Edi Rama and his judges, executioners of the law in the court room, took away the seal and logo of the Democratic Party”.
