Democratic Party MP Edi Paloka took the side of Chairman Sali Berisha against the voices that call for his resignation after the defeat in the mayoral elections of May 14. One day earlier, Berisha announced he has no intention to step down and is ready to fight for the restore of democracy and free elections in Albania, which, according to him, will be impossible as long as Prime Minister Edi Rama is in power.
Paloka said the coalition Together We Win of the Democratic Party and the Freedom Party managed to receive over 500,000 votes despite not having counters and commissioners at the ballot places.
“We know what the reality is. We know they steal (votes) and rig the elections. We must assume our responsibilities to confront them. We are facing this reality that is a government that steals votes and manipulates elections. There’s no reason why Berisha must make a step back just because Edi Rama requests it. We should either confront him or go home”, said Paloka.
