Freedom Party Chairman Ilir Meta warned against the new project of the Port of Durrës, saying it will bring disastrous consequences to the Albanian economy.

The former President of the Republic told media reporters in a press conference today that another offshore company from Dubai has joined the project.

“There is no information or transparency that would prevent a damage of millions of Euros to Albanian citizens”, said Meta.

“On October 27, according to the government acts, another offshore company based in Dubai, founded in 2015, shows up as an investor. It is clear that this is a typical mafia affair against national and strategic interests, also in terms of national security and Albania's position in terms of its role in the economic development of the entire region. It is an affair that can have disastrous consequences to the country, to the future development, and to the public finances. For these reasons, Freedom Party will investigate further and will hold accountable every responsible authority”.
