Albanian Premier Edi Rama attacked the university professors that are in a general strike and warned there will be no agreement with them. Speaking in a meeting in Gjirokastër, Rama accused the strike as politically motivated and controlled by the opposition.

“You cannot protest and abandon teaching when your salaries have been raised. The university teachers have second jobs in private universities. A part of them are not declared by the private universities, for this we’ll do a vetting process. They protest to draw water to the cauldron of the rubles men, to the personas non grata, and spies”, said Rama. “There is no pact with them, our job is not making pacts behind your back”.

The Prime Minister added the education union is chaired by a former member of SHIK, the state intelligence service during Sali Berisha’s tenure as president. He also warned the professors to forget further raise of their salaries and they must sustain themselves through projects.
