Former Albanian President Ilir Meta said today the country needs serious strategic investors and decisions, but the national interest does not exist for Premier Edi Rama. Meta, now Chairman of the Freedom Party, formerly known as the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI), focused on the port of Durrës, which has been caught in the net of a new corruption affair with suspicious investors.

“Albania and Durrës need serious strategic investors and decisions, that respect the Constitution, the state sovereignty on the strategic infrastructure, the transparence and competition principles, and the obligations that come from the Stabilization-Association Agreement and the Berlin Process”, said Meta in a press conference.

“The brutal ignoring of the citizens of Durrës, domestic and foreign experts, of obligations to the European corridors sanctioned in the Vienna Summit of 2015 show that the national interest does not exist for this Prime Minister that hides behind stories with shell companies, investors and money of suspicious origin”.
