The Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) said today nothing can distract the attention from the scandal of the waste incinerators despite Premier Edi Rama’s travelling to Brussels for the opening of negotiations with EU. LSI’s Secretary General Endrit Brahimllari said the incinerators affair cost $189 million to the Albanian citizens and for that he accused directly Rama and Tirana’s Mayer Erion Veliaj.

“The biggest corruptive affair in the country must be solved as soon as possible and send before justice the real culprits. The heads of this affair are in the Prime Ministry and in the Municipality of Tirana”, said Brahimllari.

“No event can distract the attention from this affair. Edi Rama and Erion Veliaj did stop at the abuse in the procedures for the incinerators construction but they went further with the corruptive scheme by putting the state institutions in function of the tax evasion, by using identities of elder or deceased persons, a scheme that cost $189 million to the Albanian citizens. Meanwhile, the citizens pay every day $80,000 for incinerators that do not work”.

“SPAK (the Special Prosecution against Corruption) must deepen its investigation and go to the real responsible persons for this affair”, said Brahimallri.
