Albanian President Ilir Meta commented the Corruption Perception Index that lists Albania as the most corrupt country in Europe.

Meta wrote the lack of accountability at all central and local level would lead naturally to this outscore.

He highlighted only the fight against corruption would prevent Albania’s failure and would restore hope to the citizens.

“Anther unacceptable record! Albania results the most corrupt country in the region and Europe, according to EUROSTAT, leaving only Russia behind. No surprise!

The lack of accountability at every central and local level, abuses with public funds through the waste incinerators, concessions and PPPs, as well as justice under the executive power would naturally yield such results. Only an open uncompromised fight against corruption would prevent Albania’s failure and would restore hope to the citizens that are abandoning the country massively. Albania’s liberation from corruption and state’s capture is today our national interest and priority”.
