Democratic Party MP Oerd Bylykbashi, also negotiator for the election of the President, said in a press conference today that the agreement announced by Democrat MP Enkelejd Alibeaj confirmed that Premier Edi Rama is appointing the opposition.
“Alibeaj accepted the agreement offered by Taulant Balla on Edi Rama’s account. Taulant Balla entitled Alibeaj to propose candidates for the President in the second and third rounds”, Bylykbashi said.
“Rama is trying to have his preferred proposed by the opposition nominated by him, which could guarantee the 84 votes needed to sell the new president as a consensual one”.
“The opposition doesn’t need an agreement to propose candidates, because this is a constitutional right. The Democratic Party denounces this agreement as an invalid act that intends creating a puppet opposition that would deliver the new president to Edi Rama”.
“The President of Albania must be a real representative of the people’s unity that comes from politic representative wills based on the votes, not a puppet of a vassal agreement”.
