Albanian President Ilir Meta sounded again the alarm for the depopulation of the country but his repeated calls have found no answer from the government.

Based on the latest report of the Albanian Institution of Statistics, INSTAT, which found that Albania’s population has shrunk with 1.3% compared to 2021, Meta said that the country’s depletion is programmed and appealed openly: “It is time to stop this programmed exhaustion of the country from the local and international ‘Renaissance’”.

“INSTAT’s demographic data show the catastrophic depletion of the country. Albania has 50,000 less citizens each year, which means that every year the population of an average town is deleted from the map”, Meta wrote on his Facebook page.

“This is a red alarm to stop as soon as possible and by all means the elimination exhaustion of our people. This model of ‘development’ is nothing but a desperation and elimination model. It is time to stop this programmed exhaustion of the country from the local and international ‘Renaissance’”.
