Democrat MP Grida Duma has stepped down from her post as deputy chairwoman of the Democratic Party. She announced her resignation in a post on her Facebook page.
“The Democratic Party of Albania is in its most difficult days, the traumas of consecutive defeats are not being recuperated because Lulzim Basha is using them and negotiating to turn them into his gain”, Duma wrote.
“After the majority of the parliamentary group asked him with political maturity to assume responsibility and step down, Lulzim Basha used a disappointed minority to hit the MP, the most voted and most representatives of the Democratic Party.
Even though I personally did not hold any decision-making powers and I’ve already provided a written report of all of the decisions I found damaging for the party, I hereby declare that I’ve resigned from my duties as deputy chairwoman of the Democratic Party – as this is only one of those crucial decisions that comes with being a Democrat.
The Democratic Party can’t keep losing only because the loser wants to keep gaining and benefiting”.
