The historic leader of the Albanian Democrats and former Premier Sali Berisha said in the parliament today the waste incinerators affair goes beyond €420 million.
“It has become the norm for my opponents to mention my name just like their atheist fathers mentioned the Bible and Quran. Edi Rama has repeatedly declared that I have said the incinerators have priority. In the EU classification of the waste recycling, the incinerators have priority before landfills but the most recommended way today is the waste recycling. By saying this, neither EU nor I intend that waste become gold mines for the mafia and sources of misfortunes and mafia in different countries”, Berisha said.
“You mention the €420 million figure”, Berisha addressed to the Socialist government. “I’d like to explain to Albanians that only Tirana’s incinerator goes to €420 million, the whole thing goes much higher. You signed a 30-year concession and pay €29 per ton from Albanian taxpayers money. In the period 2005-2013 several landfills were built in Bushat, Korça, Saranda, the price decided with the World Bank and the German KfZ was €10 per ton, whereas you set €29 per ton”.
