Albanian President Ilir Meta has published the answers to 72 questions addressed to him by the Constitutional Court while the Court is deliberating over Meta’s dismissal from the parliament. The question addressed to the President concern his behavior before and during the electoral campaign, and the process initiated by the parliament against him. The parliament decided to dismiss President Meta for serious violations of the constitution and the case ended in the Constitutional Court which will rule within 30 days after closing the hearing on Monday.

Asked by the Justices of the Constitutional Court about the accusations he made against the foreign ambassadors, most notably against US Ambassador Yuri Kim, the President said he has made known his concern to the US Department of State.

Question: Do you think that the accusations against the representatives of the diplomatic missions for being corrupt, made during your public appearances in the media or social networks, are based on facts, and, if yes, did you file complaints in the relevant organs?

Answer: The President of the Republic has never been shown any official concern by any international partner for his behavior or acts. The President has expressed officially his concern for incorrect behavior of certain diplomats directly to them, also notifying officially the countries or organizations they represent. The President of the Republic has never interfered in the competences of the diplomatic representation of any partner country, but unfortunately there were certain diplomats that publicly put into question the President’s decrees, by siding openly with the majority in the capture of the justice system, in particular of the Constitutional Court.

Question: You have often mentioned “the people of March 2”. What category is this, assessing the participation of the people in the elections or the official results from the Central Electoral Commission for the participation in the elections and the votes for the governing majority?

Answer: The people of March 2 represents all Albanians that want to be governed only by the Constitution and the law; want democracy instead of autocracy; do not want to subordinate to any abuser or violator of the law, be them a Prime Minister, minister, public or politic functionaries of any kind and level.

Question: The parliament claims that in your public appearances there were insults of persons with public functions. Do you admit this fact?

Answer: The President of the Republic has been attacked in all forms and this campaign of insults and denigration was inspired personally by the Socialist Party Chairman and Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Question: Have your public appearances in the media been requested by the TV journalists or by yourself?

Answer: The requests of TV journalists for interviews or public statements are many times more than the possibilities of the President to answer. The President’s opinions in defense of the Constitution and the law must not censored by no one.
